Yögèsh Master
My basic interest initially started off with various aspects of literature. I wrote stories, novels, articles for magazines, theatrical play-scripts etc. One of my very popular stories called “Samanantara Rekhegalu” was published in the Kannada weekly ‘Taranga’. It was a popular in those days for its influence on reuniting many broken families of the readers.
Another area of interest in music, I had my training under music guru Smt. Kamalamma Venkatesh of Vani Sangeeta Vidhyalaya which is one of the old and reputed music institute in Chamarajpet which have produced many noted musicians in Karnataka. Hindustani vocal and Bhajans were trained under Guru Smt. Bhramarambha Gopinath, who is a disciple of Saint Bhadragiri Keshava Das and she is also noted Bhajan singer and composer.
I was trained in Bhajans in Shri Siddhashram (Chamarajapet, Bangalore) based on the principles of Sadguru Shree Siddharooda of Hubli – Karnataka, which is one of the oldest centre for Bhajan singing and other Ashram activities. There I was blessed to get Satsang experience with Shri Honnappa Bhagavatar, a noted south Indian musician and cine artist, Shri Sambhandha Murty Bhagavatar (musician and Keertanakar) and Pandit Sheshadri Gawai (a noted Hindustani Sangeet Vidwan) in the activities of Ashram.
In my youth I had a great privilege of Bhajan singing and other cultural activities in Shree Ramakrishna Mutt, Basavana Gudi Bangalore as a member of Vivekananda Balak Sangh, under the guidance of Swamy Purushothamananda a great inspiration of youth and noted Bhajan singer, also a preacher. My music composition mainly comprises of Dance dramas and light music.
I started my career as a school teacher as such I’m known as “Yogesh master”. I worked as a school teacher for 16 years. Apart from taking up the regular subjects I took up directing and promoting culture activities.
I’m also a trained dancer, had the privilege of learning Bharatnatyam under Guru Shree U.K Arun and Vidhusi Smt. Radha Amarnath. My choreography mainly consists of contemporary form of dance. I composed hundreds of Ballets in Indian classical, western and contemporary dance forms.
I’ve written and directed several theatrical plays in Kannada and English ( more than 200 theatrical productions). I concentrate on giving utmost importance to spiritual, cultural and social awareness in my plays. I got the opportunities to gain experience in theatre, taking part in different workshops and theatre projects under the guidance of many achievers like B Jayashree, M S Sathyu, Hamsalekha, Suresh Anaganahalli, R Nagesh, V Manohar, Sundarashree and Renukabali Udayakumar. My theatre colleagues and juniors call me Guruji or Jee as I’m known for baptizing numerous people from different walks of life into theatrical activities.
I made short films to draw attention towards certain serious issues in society. There to quote a few; Nale baruvudu matte which is about de-addiction of drugs, Ananda Vana is about saving trees and Kshameyirali is all about the personal confession in one’s life.
A feature films in my credit is Marali Manege and Ammu is on process.
